Golf - Varsity Boys
The Choate boys’ golf team is a member of the competitive Founders’ League with eight other western New England boarding and day independent schools: Avon Old Farms, Hotchkiss School, Kent School, Kingswood-Oxford, Loomis Chaffee, Taft School, Trinity-Pawling, and Westminster School.
Each spring, the varsity team schedules twelve nine-hole matches against Founders’ League opponents and other New England prep school teams, including Deerfield Academy, Hopkins School, Northfield Mount Hermon, Pomfret School, and Suffield Academy.
Additionally, the team competes in several multi-team 18-hole tournaments, including the 10-team Suffield Academy Invitational, the 9-team Founders’ League Championship, the 27-team Kingswood Invitational Tournament (KITs) at Gillette Ridge, and the 36-hole iii (Independent International Invitational) held at Crumpin-Fox Club. Recent graduates have gone on to play at the Division I and III collegiate level, including at Ivy League, Patriot League, and NESCAC colleges and universities.
The Choate team's home course is Wallingford Country Club (par 71, 6450 yards), an outstanding private course that regularly hosts local and regional qualifying tournaments, including in the past, the Connecticut State Amateur and the New England Senior Amateur. WCC is always in impeccable condition and located less than one mile from the Choate campus.
