2024 Ambassador S. Phillips’61 Family Lecturer

John Della Volpe, the director of polling at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, visited the School in November to talk about his research and polling initiatives to understand American youth. 

During Family Weekend Families Lean into Choate Life

Family Weekend brought more than 600 families to campus October 24-26. 

Throughout the weekend, families found a meaningful balance between spending quality time with their students and engaging with the dedicated adults who help shape the student experience. Families visited classes, shared meals in the dining hall, attended information sessions, and watched evening musical performances. They also cheered on the Wild Boars at sporting events and created memories attending School Meeting and playing bingo. At the same time, families had the opportunity to meet advisers who play a vital role in supporting student growth and development.  

School Community Working for Housing Justice

Recently, Choate students, faculty, and staff spread across New Haven County for a day, conducting service related to housing justice as part of the School’s annual Community Service Day. 

Choate Hosts Renowned Authors for All School Read Program

On September 17, Choate students, faculty, and staff gathered in Ann and George Colony Hall for a panel discussion with acclaimed authors Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah and Reginald Dwayne Betts, as part of the All School Read program. Over the summer, students read either Adjei-Brenyah’s novel Chain-Gang All-Stars, a finalist for the National Book Award, or Betts’ poetry collection Felon, which received the American Book Award. 

Semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program Named

The 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program named 8 Choate sixth form students among the more than 16,000 semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship program. The students, along with home city and state, are Emma C. Bowles, Charlotte, N.C.; James W. Denison, Austin, Texas; Sarina D. Fernandez-Grinshpun, Mountain View, Calif.; Nilan Kathir, Cheshire, Conn.; Peisong Li, Beijing, China; Celeste M. Shattuck, Charlotte, N.C.; Alexander C. Wang, West Hartford, Conn.; and Jingyuan Zhang, Wallingford, Conn.

Second Installation of Witness Stones on Campus 

The Choate community recently came together to commemorate the lives of Kate and Mina during a Witness Stones Installation Ceremony on Choate’s campus this spring. This event marked Choate’s second installation of Witness Stones, following the inaugural one in the spring of 2023.
