The Choate girls’ golf team is a member of the competitive Founders’ League with eight other western New England independent boarding and day schools: Miss Porter’s School, Hotchkiss School, Kent School, Kingswood-Oxford, Loomis Chaffee, Taft School, Ethel Walker, and Westminster School.

Interscholastic girls’ golf emerged in independent schools in the mid-2000s and has grown to include more than 10 programs in the Connecticut River Valley and beyond. At Choate, our program welcomes golfers at all levels, from competitive tournament players to aspiring novices. We celebrate player development, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. We aspire to graduate players with the skills, knowledge, and interest to continue playing the game, whether competitively in college or recreationally during their adult lives.

We are fortunate to have top-notch practice and match facilities nearby at both the Wallingford Country Club and Lyman Orchards Golf Course. Most of our competitive matches are nine-hole, match-play events, though we also participate in the NEPSAC 18-hole stroke play championship event, the Pippy O’Connor Invitational, and the 9-hole stroke play Founders’ League Championships, each season. And, while golf is a spring sport, players can arrange access to the Wallingford course during the fall and can hit into indoor nets in the winter.
