Water Polo - Varsity Boys
Choate’s water polo program started in 1988 under the guidance of John Sappey. The Choate Boys’ Water Polo Team has often been a front runner in the New England area by attracting strong athletes who embrace the sport with enthusiasm. Their fortitude in the pool matches their fortitude in the classroom. With 9 championship matches under their belt, the Choate Boys’ Water Polo team has a long history of making it to post-season play!
Our competitive schedule includes playing in the New England Prep School league where we continue to develop our skills and strategies and grow our student-athletes into life-long water polo players! In addition to the numerous athletes continuing to play at the club level in college, the program has graduated many players into NCAA college programs such as USC, Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont-Mckenna, and Connecticut College.
Whether you come from a strong swimming background or playing ball on a field, Choate’s water polo programs bring athletes together from different backgrounds and fosters a love for the sport. Water polo provides a unique experience for those who want to try a new sport as a young teenager which can and has led to playing in college.
