Donta Johnson has served as the Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach since 2019. He is a graduate of Springfield College ‘98 (Bachelor's Degree) and 00’ (Masters Degree). While at Springfield College, he was two-time captain, three-time all-conference honoree, Conference Player of the Year and Two-Time All-American. In 2014, Coach Johnson was elected into the Springfield College Hall of Fame. 

Immediately after college, Coach Johnson went on to play professionally for several years. Currently, he trains athletes for the next level at his training facility. He has been managing the recruitment process for his Choate student athletes, members of his D4S AAU Club and players that he trains. Overall, Coach Johnson has coached both boys and girls high school level AAU for over twenty years. He’s placed over 100 student athletes in college while training or coaching. 

As the Head Coach of Choate, his teams have competed at a very high level consistently and have qualified for the NEPSAC playoffs every season. In 2022, he led his team to a perfect record in conference play and won the Founders League title.
